On Beethoven’s Watch!
As Marldon looks to the future at Prescot Street and Chamber Street E1 we continue to learn about the area’s fascinating history.
In the late 1700s a watchmaker called George Prior worked at 31 Prescot Street. Prior is believed to have designed a watch that belonged to Ludwig van Beethoven, now part of the rare and important collection at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
On the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth we will be sure to celebrate this proud if not distant connection to the great composer!
